This programme is taught jointly by members of staff from the Centre for Leadership Studies within the University of Exeter Business School and the Department of Politics within the School of Humanities and Social Sciences. It aims to provide a thorough grounding in both disciplines, particularly in their more practical aspects, and bring out their connection and inter-relationship. Ever since Plato, it has been assumed that leaders ought to be experts in politics and that experts in politics should be leaders.
This Combined Honours programme has been designed to promote better leadership in politics. It will do so by striving for excellence across the range of political and leadership studies, from core to specialist, in a supportive and responsive learning environment that is enriched by research.
Our aim is to enable you to understand and use the main concepts, approaches and theories of the disciplines of politics and leadership, as well as to analyse, interpret and evaluate political and/or leadership events, ideas and institutions, giving particular attention to the interface between the two subject areas.
Following completion of the programme, you should be able to commentate on and participate in political and leadership situations with skilful, reflexive and a generally well-informed appreciation of what is involved therein
Please note that programme structures may be subject to change.
