During the Bachelor in Technological Innovation and Management, students explore the different facets of the related professions. While theory remains a solid part of the teaching, the main objective is to develop practical skills, in the form of projects and group work, applied to the different majors, while acquiring a truly international perspective.
The bachelor in Technological Innovation & Management has five different specialisations with the 4 tracks listed below:
* Genetics & Molecular Biology
* Biological Systems/Biomedical Engineering
* Mechanical Engineering & Management
* Ocean Engineering
* Civil & Environmental Engineering
FOUR TRACKS (all majors are not available for all tracks, look at the "contents" section at the bottom of the page for the detail) :
* SKEMA US track: 2 years in Sophia Antipolis, 1 year on SKEMA Raleigh campus, 1 year in North Carolina State University
* International SKEMA track: 2 years in Sophia Antipolis, 1 year on SKEMA Raleigh campus, 1 year on SKEMA Suzhou campus
* Exchange track: 3 and a half years in Sophia, 6 months either in SKEMA Raleigh campus or a partner university
* International Partners track: 2 years in Sophia Antipolis, 2 years in a partner university
Description of the five majors:
Genetics and Molecular Biology
This major trains biologists who want to do fundamental research, or research and development in the area of biotechnology. This specialisation concerns both micro and macro organisms. Biology can be applied to many fields: microbiology, genetics, immunology, biotechnology etc. and these correspond to specialised courses in the two final years of study. A major in cellular biology is essential for fundamental research in biology. SKEMA Bachelors partners, especially Virginia Tech are internationally recognised in cellular biology, genetics and in the area of biotechnologies, in prostheses, GMOs and integrated solutions. This course overlaps with several industrial sectors such as health, agriculture, the environment and forestry, and also deals with commercial and legal aspects.
Biological Systems /Biomedical Engineering
Biological Systems / Biomedical Engineering trains engineers who master biotechnologies with specialisations in the areas of medical imaging, biomaterials and bio systems. These majors are often offered in third and fourth year of a bachelor’s degree and continue at master level. Employment opportunities are in medicine and pharmaceuticals, agriculture, the food industry, bioenergy and biofuels. This is certainly one of the most demanding engineering programmes. The first two years are devoted to acquiring the scientific knowledge necessary for this discipline, that is: basic mechanics, biology and chemistry. After the first two years the student chooses between Biological Systems (agro-food industry bio-energies, biofuels) and Biomedical Engineering (prostheses, artificial hearts, medical imaging etc.).
Civil and Environmental Engineering
Civil and Environmental Engineering is training for building and public works, management of natural and energy resources or public planning according to sustainable development policies. The English-speaking world has long integrated these dimensions into their training, thus offering a double competence in science and management. The specialisations are mostly offered in the third year of study, in construction, resource management, geo-technics, structures and materials and transport infrastructure.
Mechanical Engineering & Management
Mechanical Engineering is general training in Engineering. The specialisations offered at master of science level are mechatronics, robotics, materials, mechanics of structures or aero acoustics. Certain SKEMA Bachelor partner universities also offer mechatronics at bachelor level. The general nature of this course of study means that it offers a wide variety of sectors for future employment; these include aeronautics, automobile, armaments, climate sciences energetics and mechanics in general. Students also have the possibility to develop a competence in management, in order to have complete control of a new entreprise, from the conception to its introduction into the market.
Ocean Engineering
Ocean Engineering trains naval construction engineers with specialisations in architecture, (coastal and offshore structures, shipbuilding) propulsion or materials. Our partner universities offer a double specialisation in aerospace and ocean engineering in four or five years. The course thus leads to competences necessary for hydrofoils engineering design, fundamentals of naval architecture, physical oceanography, summer marine field project, structural analysis and design, coastal engineering structures, hydroacoustics, ship design, port and harbour design…
Possible Tracks per major:
* Genetics & Molecular Biology: International partners track
* Biological Systems/Biomedical Engineering: International partners track
* Mechanical Engineering & Management: International partners track
* Ocean Engineering: International partners track
* Civil & Environmental Engineering: International partners track, Exchange track
