The equine industry is globally booming business. The Netherlands is number one on the World ranking list of sport horse breeding: our horses are internationally known as competent, healthy and sustainable sport horses. The Dutch Equine Sector has grown into a full size organised sector with a professional status and is still developing. The Royal Dutch Warmblood Horses are the protégé of this growth. Therefore, the Netherlands is the place to achieve these specific equine management skills and knowledge and spread them all over the world. Graduates of this course will have first-hand knowledge of practice in the Netherlands, the leading country in the world. Graduates will gain valuable insight into the contrasts in business culture and work ethics existing between regions in Europe.
A study in professional competencies for those positions in companies, industry, government and other national and international institutions where equine management is an important topic. The professional tasks given to professionals in these positions are the backbone of your study.
QualificationAfter successfully completing this 1.5 year programme you will receive the Bachelor degree in Agriculture Business Management.
Tuition feeThe tuition fee for this course is € 3.750 per year for non-EU students. Students who graduate before the 1st of February in the second year will receive a restitution of € 1.875.
What does the 1,5 year programme involve? The first year:Orientation and Chain Analysis (trimester 1)A set of two subjects designed to improve general management and advisory competencies:
• Settling in a new job; introduction to the Netherlands, Europe and the equine sector
• Consultancy and advice; advising entrepreneurs in the equine sector to improve their management
Entrepreneurship and Sales (trimester 2)Two subjects dealing with entrepreneurship and international sales management:
• Sales and account management; sales, marketing and product knowledge.
• Entrepreneurship; development and assessment of strategic business plans
Students partake in a practical placement at a Dutch horse enterprise in the first two trimesters.
Research, Advice and Policy (trimester 3)Three subjects dealing with international politics, advice, research and organising events:
• Policy formulation and advice for the equine sector
• Event management; organisation of an (international) equine event
• Equine analysis and research
The last half year of the programme:Synthesis and Proof of ProficiencyTwo larger sections dealing with a full-time traineeship in a middle management job, and proof of scientific and academic expertise in researching, writing and defending an Ingenieur Thesis relevant to the sector.

You are normally required to take an English Proficiency Test.
Most European Universities recognise the IELTS test.
Take testHow to applyThe application procedure consists of two steps. The first step is to complete the application form on our website and send in your CV and motivation letter, indicating which course you would like to apply for. Our application committee will inform you about the result.
If you are eligible, the second step is an invitation for an intake interview and a paper based English test. Processing of the applications starts in October and applications need to be received before the 1st of May. * completed BTS, DUT, Licence 2 or three years of university study in agriculture or a related subject
* a minimum 550 score in the TOEFL test of English or a formally recognised equivalent such as the IELTS (level 6.0)
* the ability to formulate coherently in written English, and to have a vision of the chosen area of interest. Essay
writing is part of the selection procedure
* strong motivation to be successful in the sector
* team spirit, a flexible attitude in an international working environment
* funding in the form of a grant or a stipend, or private means
