International Business is a four year Bachelor’s degree course at Zuyd University of Applied Sciences in Maastricht (The Netherlands).
Students who are enrolled will either start in a Dutch stream (foundation programme taught in Dutch) or an English stream (foundation programme taught in English).
The course programme is thematic. This means that all modules are focused on themes that are closely linked to real-life business practices. You will work on projects that are based on realistic business processes. The themes in the first two academic years will be identical for students enrolled in either the Dutch or the English stream.
In your first year, you will work on the following themes:
Block 1: Introduction to International Business
Block 2: Research
Block 3: Business and Finance
Block 4: International Environment
In the second year the themes of Communication, Sales, Logistics and Entrepreneurship will be dealt with.
The first two years of the course are your foundation programme, the so-called major. After this you will select a specialisation, e.g. Marketing, Finance, Strategy and Innovation, Latin American Trade, East Asian Trade or Supply Chain Management.
Every student will study English and at least one second foreign language from Dutch, German, French, Spanish, Arabic and Chinese.

In year 3 and 4 they can specialise in the following area's:

Market analysis, annual report analysis, management accounting, international law

Strategic management, organizational behaviour, public administration, HRM
East Asian and Latin AmericanTrade:
International trade environment, intercultural communication, logistics
Supply Chain Management:
Supply chain strategies, operations management, supply chain excellence
The programme offers a pre-master course, that prepares students for the one year master's degree programme at Maastricht University.
You are normally required to take an English Proficiency Test.
Most European Universities recognise the IELTS test.

In view of the specific business focus of the courses, it is required that you have studied either Economics or Mathematics and English at your secondary school. Non-EU students will have to prove that they have a good command of the English language (an IELTS score of at least 6 or a computer-based TOEFL score of at least 213).
