Now that European borders are fading, there is a growing demand on the international labour market for graduates that know from experience what it means to work in an international environment.
European Studies trains you to communicate fluently in various European languages (English, German, French, Spanish and Dutch for foreign students). You will also be taking a wide range of courses in the fields of international and corporate communication, marketing, European law, politics and culture.
After your graduation, the political and economical structures within Europe will have no secrets for you. You will be able to manage cultural differences and you can be widely employed because of your language skills and your extensive knowledge in the fields of international communication, marketing and public policy.
European Studies is a four-year bachelor's degree programme, fully taught in English, to prepare you for the international labour market, to offer you an international learning environment and to facilitate a possible transfer to an interesting master programme abroad.
During your second year of European Studies you will choose one of the two streams the programme has to offer:
Communication & International BusinessAre you interested in examining, analysing and solving communication issues and would you like to find out more about the ways in which companies communicate with their various target groups? In this stream you will learn how to develop, execute and evaluate a communication policy.
The specialisation trains students for international jobs in the field of (business) communication (e.g. PR Officer, Consultant, Events Manager, Marketing Manager, Project Manager, Marketing Communication Officer, Manager Customer Relations, Export Manager, Account Manager, Sales Manager or Management Assistant). They are familiar with theories and processes of communication and their impact on organisations; the fields of internal communication, concern communication and marketing communication; modern information technology and mass media, and marketing research.
A few of the courses on offer are: Concern Communication, Internal Communication, Marketing Communication, Export Management, Strategic Management, International Marketing etc.
Communication & Public PolicyIf you choose Public Administration, you will be confronted with political and governmental matters at a national, European and global level. If you want to broaden your knowledge of subjects like the organisation of the public sector, political systems and international relations, this stream is the right choice for you. You will learn to take a critical look at the European Union and its institutions.
Students of the Public Administration Stream are trained for positions in the field of international public administration (e.g. Project Coordinator, Secretary to a Member of the European Parliament, Civil Servant, PR Assistant Local Government, Information Officer, Policy Assistant European Relations, Assistant in the Foreign Office, Immigration Officer). They are familiar with theories concerning European and international law, European political systems, theories concerning public policy and governance, the position and role of European and international law in the context of national law, the role of intergovernmental and non-governmental organisations in society and functional policies in fields such as environmental policy, policy with regards to developing countries, human rights policy and immigration issues.
Some of the courses in this stream are: Decision Making in the EU, European Regional Policy, Contemporary Political Issues and European Economic Governance.
You are normally required to take an English Proficiency Test.
Most European Universities recognise the IELTS test.

* Professional education intermediary level with 2 modern foreign languages taken as final exam subjects.
* High School, Lycee, GCSE, intern. Bacc, etc.
Foreign students need to speak at least English and a second language (from German, French or Spanish) at an advanced level. Non-EU students will have to prove that they have a good command of the English language (an IELTS score of at least 6 or a computerbased TOEFL score of at least 213).
