In August 2008 a joint venture between Anglia Ruskin University and Peterborough Regional College was formally established to create University Centre Peterborough. The aim of the joint venture was to develop and deliver high quality university education for Peterborough and its surrounding region. University Centre Peterborough represents the single most important development in higher education in Peterborough's history and is core to the City's economic strategy.
The development of University Centre Peterborough has drawn funding from many agencies, including the East of England Development Agency (EEDA) and the Higher Education Funding Council for England (HEFCE) and is part the City's £350 million regeneration plans. The new University Centre is the first step in the City's vision that aims to create a large University campus at its heart within the next decade.
The University Centre offers a broad portfolio of courses covering a range of subjects and areas and we are rapidly developing specialisms in a number of key areas. Our portfolio is constantly being revised and updated to take account of the emerging needs and aspirations of our local market.
The new purpose built £10 million Centre located on Peterborough Regional College grounds opened in November 2009. The ultra modern and contemporary 3,000 square, three storey centre has a specially designed 92 seat lecture theatre, a range of multi-purpose/size seminar and teaching rooms, state-of-the-art computer rooms, a cafe and several social areas.
University Centre Peterborough currently has around 600 students on over 30 different degree level programmes, including archaeology, business, computing, construction, education, engineering, media and sociology. The University Centre is part of a strategic aim to meet the growing demand for degree programmes in the city.
University Centre Peterborough will also provide services direct to the business community, aiding innovation, product and service development and the general 'up-skilling' of the local workforce. In addition to academic programmes and partnership working with local businesses, the University Centre seeks to support the civic development of Peterborough through support for local community groups, public events, professional bodies and businesses.
Join us at University Centre Peterborough and help us work together to shape the future of the City and the region. Achieve your dreams and fulfil your true potential at University Centre Peterborough.
