Learning Outcomes and Objectives

The aim of this course is to introduce students to philosophy and its methods. At the end of this Bachelor's degree the students will be up to the challenges of the knowledge society of today thanks to their competences to study a subject thoroughly, to analyze the argumentation of a text, To reason logically and to communicate effectively. The En Cultures Européennes - Filière Philosophie programme is delivered by University of Luxembourg.

Students will acquire the following skills:

  • Interpretation and critical analysis of texts
  • Abstract and logical reasoning, appropriate solutions to problems
  • Research and synthesis of information
  • Scientific rigor and communication skills
  • Interdisciplinary cooperation


Philosophy studies within the framework of the BCE constitute the first part of the studies required for the professorship of philosophy and moral and social training in secondary and technical secondary education in Luxembourg. They give access to Master studies (4 semesters), ea to the Master in Modern and Contemporary European Philosophy given by the University of Luxembourg. This course of study also opens opportunities for journalism, communication, cultural professions, advertising, international organizations, etc.
