B.Sc. Bachelor of Value Chain Management

The first step when you want to produce some goods is to buy some raw materials, develop and produce the goods, pay the employees, stock the goods, transport, distribute and market them. All these activities create value for the company and are linked together. Students of the Value Chain Management Programme learn to look at them from an overall perspective. The aim of the Value Chain Management Programme is, thus, to provide our students with tools to give them a good overview of these networks of processes.

This 3½-year full-degree programme taught in English prepares students for careers in business and industry. You will gain the skills and knowledge needed to manage the way businesses receive raw materials as input, add value to the raw materials through various processes, and furthermore sell finished products to customers. This is achieved through analyses, improvement and innovation of value chains in global business environments. The programme takes place in Horsens and in Aarhus.

Value Chain Managers are commonly employed in a broad range of jobs. What these jobs have in common is that they centre around process optimisation.

Most Value Chain Mangers will eventually find employment in positions that entail managerial challenges, such as:

-Project Manager

-Purchasing Manager

-Planning Manager

-Logistics Manager

-Production Manager

The aim of the Value Chain Management Programme is to provide you with an overview of the network of processes that lead to the production and marketing of goods. You will learn to look at these processes from an overall perspective.

The programme covers 7 semesters dealing with several different subjects such as, for instance, Market Oriented Supply Chain Management. Each semester is concluded with a semester project.

The programme alternates between individual work and group work and it combines theory and practice through project work. From the 2nd semester all projects will be carried out in close cooperation with different companies, giving you the opportunity of working with real-life challenges.

The flexibility of the programme and the variety of electives allow you to create your own study profile and specialisation.

The course:The programme covers seven semesters (3½ years) and the curriculum is built around themes which
lead you toward two profiles:
  • Global business development or
  • Information technology and production

Every semester covers a theme which will lead you to know the whole supply chain at the end of your education.

The themes are:

  • Market-oriented supply chain management
  • From customer order to production plan
  • Optimising the production layout

  • Profile theme
