This programme prepares students for a career as computing professionals with the focus on computing systems design and development. You can select from a wide range of options in areas such as networking, multimedia and computer games, giving you a flexible learning experience.
A broad education in the first year is based on the techniques and principles of software engineering, programming and networking, as well as the development of professional skills. In the second and final years you will select specialist options in addition to a major final-year project. This allows you to manage your curriculum in accordance to your career expectations. You can also opt for a sandwich year in industry in order to gain relevant practical experience.
The aims of the programme are:
- To develop knowledge and understanding of scientific principles and methodology necessary to support the application of the key principles of computer systems' problems and scenarios
- To have the ability to apply quantitive methods and computer software relevant to computer hardware and software engineering principles and in a multidisciplinary context
- To have the abilty to use the results of analysis to solve computer hardware and software engineering problems, apply the relevant technology and implement the pertinent engineering processes
- To have the knowledge, understanding and skills in order to be able to define a computer system problem, identify its constraints and design solutions according to the customer and the respective user's needs.
