Economics is an English-taught, three-year Bachelors programme, during which you will study not only the numbers and ratios describing the financial state of affairs of companies and global markets, but you will also be taught how to analyse the companies and markets to determine how the numbers and ratios came to be. This will enable you to create insights to improve the state of affairs and to advise policymakers on how to further develop an organization or market.
A broad scope: insights from Psychology, Sociology and Business
After a first common year, providing you with the basics of Economics and research methodology, you will have to choose one of four tracks to continue in the second year of the programme. You will examine economic issues, from micro- to macroeconomics. You will learn how to analyze, explain, and solve these issues. Within this context, you will make use of (international) economic theories. International organizations' policies will be studied and the activities carried out by multinationals will be analyzed the national and international organisational rules, interest rates and competition. In order to facilitate your analyzing, you will be taught bits and pieces of the fields Psychology, Sociology and Business.
The four tracks you can choose from after the first year of your studies are Business Economics, Financial Economics, International Economics and Business and International Economics and Policy. The Economics programme starts every year in September and takes three years to complete. It is characterized by its small-scale education and a personal approach. The lecturers are easily accessible: they will know you personally after a while and they are always willing to help you with any questions you might have.
Due to the fact that you will include insights of other disciplines, the Bachelor’s programme in Economics is an excellent preparation for a management career. You will be able to keep the overview of developments in the organization and global markets. The programme offers a solid foundation in economic measures and ratios, and depending on your choice for one of the four tracks, you will specialize in Business Economics, Financial Economics, International Economics and Business or International Economics and Policy. Later on, you can take on a Master’s specialization to become an expert in your field before you start your career.
While studying Economics, you will regularly visit companies to carry out small research projects to find out how your studies play out in reality. Guest lecturers from companies will visit classes to link the theory to daily business. You will finish the Bachelor’s programme by writing a Bachelor’s Thesis; your own research project.
Your previous education will be assessed on individual basis to determine whether it is of sufficient level. Radboud Scholarship Programme
Available for excellent non-European students for the first year of their studies. The tuition fee of the first year will be waived to the level of an EU/EEA student (€2,006 in 2017/18).
