The official Degree in Fashion Design offers international fashion studies with a unique academic concept, in both Spanish and English. The program trains fashion designers who are prepared to pursue their professional career with a fashion company or create their own brand. The fashion industry has evolved and now demands a new type of designer with more extensive training and precise knowledge of international fashion systems and processes, from the creation of a brand image and identity, to the design and creation of a collection, to product communications, distribution and production strategies.

The academics of the first year of the Degree in Fashion Design focus on the acquisition of basic design knowledge (color, drawing), culture (the history of art and design) and project methodology, all of which are essential in establishing the foundations of a competent professional capable of working in any of the different fields of design.

The second years academics probe further into the technical, cultural and project knowledge essential for students to begin focusing on a specialization of their choice.

The academics of the third and fourth years focus on students specializations as creative fashion professionals who are capable of working in all phases of industrial production and product commercialization, with a solid cultural base and profound technical knowledge of natural, artificial, synthetic and technological fibers, as well as textile production processes. The fourth year culminates in a final degree project, which is a reflection of the students training, and a professional job application letter.

This program has been recognized by the Autonomous Government of Madrid and the Spanish National Government as an official Degree in Fashion Design.

Requirements

National Students

You must have completed a high school diploma or the equivalent in your country of the “Spanish General Certificate of Secondary Education.” and you must take the Official Entrance Exam for Degrees in Design. This exam is official, mandatory and must be taken on-site. Contact the SIO for more information.

You must follow the appropriate procedures for the validation of your degree based on your home country. Our student information office (SIO) can advise you on the initial validation procedures.

You should have an interview with the Information and Orientation Service via Skype or by phone in order to answer any questions you may have and to familiarize yourself with the registration process.

International Students
