Student Life


Although housing is not provided directly by AAU, housing support is offered and AAU students can select from a variety of convenient and affordable housing options including dormitories and apartments. AAU recommends ApartmanStudent, DC Rezidence, Student Reality, CzechUniversities andFiftyFive; the aforementioned agencies can help you find the housing that is right for you. All of the agencies that AAU cooperates with can provide the necessary housing documents needed for your visa application. Student Dining

AAU offers its students a full-service cafeteria, where they can order hot meals, fresh salads and sandwiches, snacks, coffee, and other drinks.

AAU students are also entitled to use the students dining hall at the Law Faculty of Charles University, located just a short walk from the AAU campus. For more information about using the Law Faculty Cafeteria, please contact the Admissions Office.

Medical Care

112 is the general emergency line throughout the European Union (similar to 911 in the U.S.) Operators will speak English and German as well as Czech. The number can be dialed from any phone, and the call is free.

Student Services Center

The Student Services Center offers students and prospective students a variety of information and assistance. The Admissions, Student Services, and Financial Specialists can all be found in this office.

The Admissions Specialist offers information and guidance about how to gain admission to any of our university programs.

Our Student Services Specialists are available to help all registering students understand what courses are available, and to provide any necessary official school forms and documents. They should also be contacted if any applicant is interested in AAU housing options.

The Financial Specialist advises students in regard to all tuition costs, scholarships, payment details, and other transactions.

Computer lab

AAUs new and modern computer lab is open to students every week day from 7:30-22:00 throughout the year, but is closed during the month of August. Students may use the lab for writing assignments, working on homework, or accessing the Internet.


With over 19,000 books, journals, and student theses, the AAU library, located in Letenska 1, is the largest English-language library of any private university in the Prague. The library has a vibrant program of cultural events such as poetry and fiction readings and discussions, music concerts and performances. The participants are usually local and visiting artists and authors, as well as AAU faculty.


WSCUC Accreditation

AAU is accredited by the WASC Senior College and University Commission (WSCUC), one of six official regional accrediting associations in the United States.

WSCUC accredits nearly 200 universities, including the prestigious: University of California Berkeley, Stanford University, the California Institute of Technology, the University of California Los Angeles, the University of Southern California.

WSCUC also accredited twelve select foreign universities, including AAU – the only university in Europe to receive this prestigious accreditation. Our graduates receive an university degree recognized worldwide as meeting the same strict academic standards as these top universities in the US.
